Reactive oxygen and free radical testing

Reactive oxygen and free radicals are created in our body by our cells through metabolic activity and is necessary for life. However, an excess of reactive oxygen and free radicals, caused by poor dietary choices, stress, an unhealthy lifestyle, or cancer – damages cells, causing premature aging and progression of disease. At the Tokyo Cancer Clinic, the results of the reactive oxygen and free radical test is used to better prepare a therapeutic environment inside the body.
Testing is done using a small amount of blood. Cellular damage caused by reactive oxygen and the strength by which excess free radicals can be scavenged (antioxidant power) is measured.
Depending on your test results, we can provide advice on how dietary changes can increase antioxidant capacity, and recommend specific antioxidant foods or supplements. By understanding your body’s reactive oxygen and free radical status we can prepare an environment within the body, to build a foundation to maximize your health and/or the effectiveness of cancer treatment.

Testing procedure

A small amount of blood is collected from the fingertip and the ability with which the reactive oxygen and free radicals can be scavenged is measured by a diagnostic device.
